In addition to this personal blogging site, I also have a separate, more of a traditional minimalist blogging site, under the URL Breht.com – “a blog loosely following the internet & business ventures of Breht Burri”.  The Breht.com site, was created using WordPress, it also provides hands-on involvement with another open source content management system and acts as an example and laboratory for experimenting with WordPress plug-ins and extensions and for providing links to new projects and ventures.

I firmly believe in being “hands on” familiar with the tools that I recommend to clients and partners.  These two sites, BrehtBurri.com, (formerly using Joomla) but currently running WordPress and Breht.com, also using WordPress utilize many of the open source and paid tools, plugins, hosting and online services that I utilize for my own, client and partnership web development projects and business ventures.

In today’s internet-freelancer-virtual economy it pays to be handy. Being handy makes you a better manager, presenter and business person. Consequently, I use these personal blogs and a handful of sites about other stuff that I’m interested in as an opportunity to get additional  hands on experience with  tools, plugins and services that I would not experiment with in a more live business setting.
